Jeanne d'Arc, the daughter of a wealthy peasant from Domremy in Lorraine, was Born on January 6th 1412. At 13, she heard "voices" telling her to go to the French king and the English to expel from France. No one knows how, but Jeanne d'Arc convinced Charles VII of her divine destiny. She was given his full support and went with the French army to Orleans.
On the 8th of May 1429, they freed the city. This victory was considered strategically important by the people as a "sign of God's provision" and Jeanne d'Arc won enormous popularity. She went back to Charles VII, and convinced him to undertake the dangerous journey to Reims. According to an ancient tradition it was Rheims and not Paris for the place of the coronation of French kings. On 17 July 1429 a ceremony was performed at the Cathedral of this city. After his coronation of Charles VII did not need the support of Jeanne d'Arc more and gave up their proposals. Jeanne d'Arc in isolation continued their struggle against the British, but without great success.
On 23 May 1430 she was captured by the English allies (the Burgundians) and passed to the British for a sum of 10,000 francs. Jeanne d'Arc was tried for heresy. The trial began January 9th 1431 in Rouen. Be brought Charles VII could not risk that, in conjunction with a "witch" and did nothing in order to help Jeanne d'Arc.
Abandoned by all, she was found guilty and on 30 May 1431 on the square in Rouen and burned at the stake.
