(2015) 1930 "Royal Crown" Belgian Nouveau Independence Medal, Bronze Medal by Rau - Illustration No.99 Hand Drawn in Graphite on 96lb. Bristol Thick Board Sheet Stock - Pencils used: 6h, 5h, 4h, h, hb, b, 5b, 6b - Drawing time: 83 Hours to complete. This is the 19th Coin/Medal in my "Coin Series" and the 1st Medal / Coin from Belgium.

Marcel Rau was Born in Brussels in 1886 and was a former student of sculpture and architecture in the same city, Marcel Rau already had a considerable track record when he was commissioned to decorate the Bank�s new head offices. By the late 1920s he had created the exterior architectural decorations of the Universit� libre de Bruxelles buildings. His glittering career had taken off in 1909 when he was awarded the Rome Prize for Culture, a travel grant that enabled him to make art and architecture travels through Europe. Rau was not just a sculptor; he also designed numerous coins and medals, and has ten types of coin to his name. His...
