(2015) 1930 "Angelic Royal Crown" Belgian Nouveau Independence Medal, Bronze Medal by Rau - Illustration No.99 Hand Drawn in Graphite on 96lb. Bristol Thick Board Sheet Stock - Pencils used: 6h, 5h, 4h, h, hb, b, 5b, 6b - Drawing time: 83 Hours to complete. This is the 19th Coin/Medal in my "Coin Series" and the 1st Medal / Coin from Belgium.

Marcel Rau was Born in Brussels in 1886 and was a former student of sculpture and architecture in the same city, Marcel Rau already had a considerable track record when he was commissioned to decorate the Banks new head offices. By the late 1920s he had created the exterior architectural decorations of the Universit libre de Bruxelles buildings. His glittering career had taken off in 1909 when he was awarded the Rome Prize for Culture, a travel grant that enabled him to make art and architecture travels through Europe.
